Melissa has been riding since she was a toddler.  Her mother was an avid horsewomen; and she inherited her love for horses.  Throughout Melissa's life she has never been far from horses.  She started out showing at horse shows in english and western and of course the speed events and eventually transitioned to honing her competition to Barrel Racing.  Finally in 2006, Melissa was able to live a life long dream and purchase the property in Mesquite that is now know as MD Barrel Horses.  Horses have always been her passion and now she is able to allow others to share her passion as well. 

In late 2009 Melissa started riding for Guy Peixoto of Rancho Horizonte in Brazil.  Melissa was able to go and compete on several great horses for him.  It also lead her to Brazil in 2010 where she stayed and competed in events there and was able to ride and train with some great Brazilian trainers. 

In 2011, Melissa also saw a need that was there to provide affordable and reliable insurance for horse owners and trainers.  She has gone on to open http://www.melissadoose.com  where she helps individuals find insurance products to fit their needs, from health care, to equine insurance and more.

Melissa, her daughter JayDa, her brother Evan, Ty (Melissa's right hand) and of course Chanel (the barn dog), continue to share their passion and care of horses everyday and look forward to doing it for a long time to come.
